NEW Abbey Road
A restricted byway with what appear to be two former lodges to the Windleshaw Abbey Cemetery. The entrance to the small cemetery and the historic chantry chapel is between the lodges.

Windleshaw Chantry
The Chantry was erected in 1435 by Sir Thomas Gerard as thanksgiving for his return from the wars. This small cemetery within a cemetery contains many interesting old graves.

Windleshaw Chantry tower
The 36ft tower is all that remains of Sir Thomas Gerard's 15th century chantry chapel. Although now located within St Helens cemetery it has its own graveyard which includes a cross said to date from 1629 and erected by a local publican.

Windleshaw Chantry
The tower and remaining wall are surrounded by some distinctly irregular gravestones - which the council has sought to protect the public from by putting warning stickers on many of them!
