Carmelite Monastery, Eccleston
The Carmelite Monastery in Green Lane, Eccleston, one of sixteen Carmelite monasteries in England, four in Scotland, one in Wales. Almost 300 nuns live in these 21 Carmels, dedicating their lives to prayer in silence and solitude. In June 1914 a little band of sisters set out from Notting Hill Carmel to found the Carmel of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour in the old mansion house "Spring Field" in Eccleston.
