The (former) Down Street tube station, Down Street, W1 (2)
Down Street station, between (the then) Dover Street (now Green Park) and Hyde Park Corner stations, opened in March 1907. In 1909 the Piccadilly line decided to let some trains pass through some of the lesser-used stations without stopping; these included Down Street. The station was closed for public use in May 1932. During W II the station became the HQ of the Railway Emergency Committee, and was also used by the War Cabinet.
