Clearly signed "Horse Route" all through here. Are quaint old "Bridleways" being phased out?

George and Annis Bills - Australia
Just about legible on the side of the trough are the names of these two people. George and Annis Bills were an Australian couple who took an interest in animal welfare. George died in 1927, leaving money for the provision of drinking troughs for horses. Over 500 were installed in Australia. There are not many in Britain though. This is one of the few that are known to still exist in this country. Sean's picture Image shows the other side, which is inscribed with the more frequently found "Metropolitan Drinking Fountain and Cattle Trough Association" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metropolitan_Drinking_Fountain_and_Cattle_Trough_Association so it seems this trough had double sponsorship. I can't claim to be a drinking trough spotter, but I did notice this one, having taken a picture of another of the apparently rare Bills' Troughs in Reading a few years ago.
