Shepperton ferry
With the exception of a twenty year gap until 1986, there has been a ferry between Shepperton and Weybridge for around 500 years. It was also famously featured in HG Wells' novel, War of the Worlds. The ferry is a vital link on the Thames Path. The present service is operated by the Nauticalia chandlery shop. It runs from 8am on weekdays, 9am on Saturdays, and 10am on Sundays, until 5.30pm. Crossings are made subject to demand every 15 minutes. Passengers must ring a bell on the quarter hour to summon the ferryman.

View across Thames
A foot and cycle ferry operates here, the far side is at the foot of Ferry Lane, the short ferry pier being roughly in line with the reddish building with roof lights. The near terminal is a wharf along the bank out of shot to the right. At the time of this shot the fare was £2 per head, £3 with a cycle.
