The cross originally stood in the centre of the village at the crossroads. When the road was modernised it was removed to this position on Church Lane Ormesby.

Lych gate in Church Lane
This photograph shows a view of the Lych gate at the parish Church of St Cuthbert in Church Lane, Ormesby. The picture was taken from the opposite side of the road looking in a south-westerly direction towards Ormesby Grange.

Old Milespost by Church Lane, Ormesby
The Milepost is located by rear entrance to Ormesby Hall by the road.  Parish of Eston (Redcar District). Cast iron post, Leeds iron casting design, erected in the 19th Century.  Inscription reads:- STOCKN. / 7 / YARM / 9 : : GISBRO. / 6 / WHITBY / 26: : Cawood. Leeds Foundry. Milestone Society National ID: YN_GUST06
