Ex-North Eastern Class P3 0-6-0 at West Hartlepool Locomotive Depot
The largest of the NER 0-6-0s, LNER Class J27 were particularly successful and long-lived: No. 65816 was built in 5/08 and withdrawn 10/59, but some lasted well into 1967. (See also Image]).

Ex-NER 0-6-0 at West Hartlepool Locomotive Depot
Ex-NER W. Worsdell class P3 (LNER J27) 0-6-0 No. 65816 poses at the Depot on a Sunday. Built 5/1908 as No. 1025, it became LNER No. 5816 in 1946 and succumbed only in 10/59 - somewhat sooner than some of its Class.

Stranded seal at Hartlepool
This seal pup (a Grey Seal I think) had been stranded on these steps by the tide. The girl was from a wildlife group and had answered a call from a member of the pudlic. She said the seal would probably go back in the water on the next tide and was in good condition.
