Abdiel House
Built in 1911, this was the Dockmaster's Office for the Union Dock, which is now part of Hartlepool Marina http://sine.ncl.ac.uk/view_structure_information.asp?struct_id=1583 . It has been converted to flats and a restaurant (the Moorings Eaterie). And the clock has stopped.

Another incarnation of the Hartlepool Monkey
This sculpture situated in the Marina Basin commemorates the possibly apocryphal tale which is by turns a source of pride or embarrassment to Hartlepudlians. It concerns a monkey washed overboard from a ship in the time of the Napoleonic wars. As the monkey was unable to give a good account of itself in any intelligible manner, the worthy citizens of Hartlepool hanged him as a spy. See http://www.rjh.f2s.com/monkey/index.htm. Another incarnation of the monkey can be seen on the Headland Image Visitors are invited to "Make a wish for the monkey" - with proceeds going to the Hartlepool and District Hospice.

Statue of a stag, Hartlepool Marina
At the edge of a car park on the eastern side of the marina. Behind the plinth is Navigation Point, a fairly recent development of flats with retail/food establishments below http://www.thisishartlepool.co.uk/attractions/navigationpoint.asp . There didn't appear to be a plaque explaining this statue, but the name of Hartlepool derives from the association of harts (stags or deer) with water http://www.thisishartlepool.co.uk/history/hartlepoolname.asp . The historic borough seal features a hart at bay in a pool, with a hound on its back http://www.ngw.nl/int/gbr/h/hartlepo.htm .
