Throston Engine House, Hartlepool
Throston Engine House was built between 1838-1840. It contained a steam winding engine which hauled the coal wagons of the Stockton and Hartlepool Railway up 14ft to the staithes of the Hartlepool Railway. Throston Engine House
The Throston Engine House housed a stationary engine used to haul coal wagons up onto the staithes and is grade 2 listed. It has recently been sold, although planning permission for conversion to a private dwelling had lapsed.
