Norton Junction railway station (site), County Durham
Believed to have been opened around 1836 by the Clarence Railway on its line from Stockton to Coxhoe via Ferryside, this station closed in 1877 when it was replaced by a station at Norton (see Image]) around 1km further east on the line from Stockton to Hartlepool. View north west towards Redmarshall and Ferryside. The original station buildings still stood to the right of the track as late as the 1960s (see https://picturestocktonarchive.wordpress.com/2003/07/01/norton-old-station-junction/ )
