Crosshill Hotel, The Square, Sedgefield
The left part of the hotel was built as three houses in the early C18th and is a grade II listed building and occupies a prominent position overlooking the church.

A market was held on Cross Hill here, the result of a charter granted by Bishop Kellawe in 1312, but stopped in 1918. A market-cross is mentioned in 1569 but no trace of it now remains.

Water pump & High Street, Sedgefield
The water pump on Sedgefield green opposite the Black Lion public house is the start of the Sedgefield heritage trail. According to the trail leaflet, Sedgefield used to be renowned for the quality of its water and was once referred to as the 'Montpellier of the North'.

Sedgefield: Shrove Tuesday ball game sculpture
The sculpture, outside the parish church, was designed by Brian Sutherland and made in 2000 by David France. It illustrates a local custom which is alleged to have originated in playing with the head of a Scotsman.
