Stockton Locomotive Depot
View NE, the main line to West Hartlepool, Sunderland etc. is on the left, the signalbox being North Shore. This Depot (coded 51E in the Darlington District of BR (NE Region), contributed power mainly for the intensive freight traffic of the Tees-side area and it was closed in 6/59 and the locomotives transferred to the new Thornaby Depot opened a year earlier. In 1954, Stockton had an allocation of 53:- 11 4-6-0s, 15 2-8-0s (all ex-WD), 3 2-6-0s, 5 0-8-0s, 5 0-6-0s, 1 4-8-0T, 2 4-6-2Ts, 4 0-6-0Ts, 6 0-4-4Ts and 1 0-4-0T. The photograph was taken on a quiet Sunday afternoon.

Ex-NER 4-8-0T outside Stockton Locomotive Shed
Another of the three 4-8-0Ts employed at Stockton for hump-shunting in the marshalling yard (see also
Image]). These NER class X (LNER T1) 4-8-0Ts were introduced by Wilson Worsdell in 1909 and a few were built after Grouping; No. 9912 was built 10/1909 as No. 1352, became LNER No. 9912 in 1946 and survived until 10/59, when Diesel shunters took over its work.

Ex-NER 0-6-0T at Stockton Shed, 1954
Seen on shed on Sunday 13/6/54, BR No. 68412 had originated as the first Fletcher 'Bogie Tank Passenger' 0-4-4T, NER No. 15 of 7/1877. It was rebuilt in 3/21, one of the 60 Worsdell NER '290' class 0-6-0T so derived; renumbered 8412 in 1946, it was withdrawn as BR 68412 in 3/57.

Walkways and road crossing near Eastbourne
This photograph shows a view of some of the walkways in the grass-land area that surrounds the A177 road between Eastbourne and Primrose Hill. The pedestrian crossing over the A177 road can be seen in the centre of the image. Some of the houses in Eastbourne can be seen on the horizon. The picture was taken looking in a northerly direction towards Norton.
