Allens West station
View westward, towards Darlington - on the pioneer Stockton & Darlington Railway of 1825. This station was built as a Halt in 1940 to serve the large Ministry of Aircraft Production factory engaged in metal recovery from crashed aircraft. After the War it was taken over by the Royal Navy until October 1971 when it was opened for public services between Darlington, Eaglescliffe and Tees-side.

Allens West railway station, County Durham
A station called "Yarm Branch End" was opened here in 1825 by the Stockton and Darlington Railway, as it was the junction for the branch line to "Yarm Depots". The branch closed to passengers in 1833 and the station here closed in 1862. The more modern station was opened here as "Urlay Nook Halt" in 1943 by the London & North Eastern Railway on its line from Darlington to Stockton and Middlesbrough. The name was changed to "Allens West Halt" in 1944. In both cases it was an unadvertised halt used only by workers at nearby factories. It only became a public station in 1971. View west towards Dinsdale and Darlington. The 1825 branch line would have run to the left of the left-hand platform and curved sharply away to the south.
