Sign for the Cleveland Bay
Bloodgood and Santini describe this breed of horse in their Horseman's Dictionary as 'a heavy harness horse evolved in the North Yorkshire (Cleveland) district'. Such horses have 'Arab blood crossed with native, English, Spanish and Scandinavian stock'. In earlier times the breed was known as the Chapman or Yorkshire Packhorse.

Yarm railway station (site)
Opened in 1852 by the Leeds Northern Railway on the line from Northallerton to Eaglescliffe, this station closed in 1960. Presumably when the decision was taken to reopen Yarm station, this site was too constrained by new building and the viaduct, so it was moved to the southern edge of town. View south towards the viaduct, the new Yarm station and Northallerton.
