All Saints Church
An interior view from the gallery. Notice the triple decked pulpit in the middle of the south side of the church. The far pews face to the camera, the near pews face away. Some of the pews have family names on them and are locked. The top tier of the pulpit has a canopy called a "tester". The function of this canopy was to amplify the voice of the vicar.

Sarcophagi, All Saints Church
Of unknown date but probably Medieval. Made of stone; the nearer one with the lid much smaller and made for a child.

View from the Pulpit, All Saints Church
The view from the triple decked canopied pulpit towards the north transept which served as a private pew for the Trotter family of nearby Skelton Castle. The transept contains a fireplace on the far wall for the benefit of the family and it is said that the fire was stoked noisily if the sermon went on too long or became too boring. In the main body of the church the pews on the left faced east and those on the right west so that everyone could see the preacher. Many of the pews have locked gates and were dedicated to specific families.
