Welcome to Perrancoombe
This bend in the road marks the southern end of Perrancoombe, a long string of houses stretching along the valley bottom road into Perranporth. Note the little wooden stall at the roadside. These are now a common sight to anyone walking the backroads of Cornwall. They contain fruit and vegetable produce which local residents put out for sale. Just select what you want and put the appropriate coinage in the box provided. This stall had Bramley apples, great for cooking in an apple pie but not the sort of thing you want to eat raw.

Roadside Pump at Carnbargus
This old pump seems to be set in some good 20th century concrete. It may have been formerly used here to water the horses or it may have been set here purely for decoration.
