The railway viaduct at Angarrack
The original viaduct at Angarrack was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel for the west Cornwall Railway and was built wholly of timber on stone footings. It was nearly 800 feet (240 m) long and 100 feet (30 m) high. The present viaduct of roughly the same dimensions was an entirely new replacement structure and opened by the Great Western Railway in 1885. Its eleven stone arches each have a span of 56.5 feet (17.2 m).

Hayle : Angarrack - Angarrack Viaduct
It was opened by the Great Western Railway in 1888 and its eleven granite arches each have a span of 56.5 feet (17.2 m). It is a Grade II listed building.

Angarrack
A village just outside Hayle, but retaining its own separate identity. It is crossed to the south by a high railway viaduct. This photo was taken from the 1158 Penzance to London Paddington train, having left Hayle at 1214.

Stream flowing beneath viaduct
The stream flows beneath the pillars of the railway viaduct. I stood on a wooden pedestrian footbridge looking towards another very similar to it.

Hayle : Angarrack - Angarrack Viaduct
The eleven-arch granite-built viaduct carries the Cornish Main Line railway across the steep-sided valley of the Angarrack River, a tributary of the River Hayle, between the present day stations of Camborne and Hayle. The village extends up the valley and under the viaduct.
