Cottage on Churchtown Road with Slag Block Quoins
It makes for an attractive design and was relatively cheap to build with, although most slag blocks went into the building of Copperhouse Pool & Hayle Canal, industrial foundations and paving blocks for roads. That said, the most famous copper slag building was the Methodist Chapel at Copperhouse, completed in 1785 close to the CCC works, near the canal basin. Closeby a Methodist Sunday School was established in 1798 also made of slag blocks. The Chapel was demolished in 1816 when a new, bigger chapel was completed down the road at Ventonleague, but the Sunday School still stands.
