Lych Gate and coffin stone
This is the lych gate at the entrance to the church of St. Symphorian and the view shows the traditional coffinstone where the coffin can be place to give the bearers a rest before proceeding to the church. The name of the church is certainly unusual as it is only one of three churches in the United Kingdom dedicated to this particular saint. The other two churches are St Symphorian's Church, Durrington, Worthing, West Sussex and at Forrabury, near Boscastle, Cornwall.Image

Veryan - St Symphorian - Mediæval carved saint
This carved wooden saint is to be found towards the eastern end of the north wall of Image] It is thought to be mediæval (e.g. pre 1500) but I can find no information on which particular saint it depicts. Perhaps it is St Symphorian to whom the church is dedicated, but I think that is more likely to be St Paul. See shared description below:

Veryan - Church of St Symphorian - Nave looking eastwards
Looking along the nave of the Church of St Symphorian in Veryan with the altar below the East Window. There is no obvious division between the nave and chancel. The ribs of the barrel roof are carved - see Image] for a close-up view. See also shared description below.

Veryan - Church of St Symphorian - Font
It is thought that the carving on the perimeter of the bowl is probably Norman (dating from the C11th-early C12th) but that the bowl has been recut and that the shafts and central pier supporting it are somewhat younger (e.g. C15th).
