Hutchens Trust property
The Hutchens Trust was set up in 1709 when Captain Stephen Hutchens (who died in Jamaica on board the ship that he commanded) left the money for it in his will. The Trust is still active today, providing accommodation for elderly people from the Paul area.

Church of St Pol de Leon, Paul
The church was founded by the Welsh missionary, St Paul Aurelian in the 5th century. Today's granite church is mostly 15th century with Norman foundations recorded. In 1595 Spanish invaders set fire to the church and surrounding villages.

The Parish of Paul covers the villages of Paul, Mousehole, parts of Newlyn and the rural area surrounding them. Although parts of the building are much older, the Church was largely rebuilt after the burning by Spanish invaders in 1595. St Pol de Leon is another name for this church.
