Gwennap Pit
A disused mine working which was converted into a Methodist outdoor "Preachers Pit".

Gwennap Pit, St Day
The pit was possibly formed by mining operations, and was used by Wesley to preach to the local people. Later the pit was improved and the neat terracing made for seating.

Gwennap Pit near Redruth
From Wikipedia;- Gwennap Pit is where John Wesley preached eighteen times between 1762 and 1789. The pit was caused by mining subsidence in the mid-18th century. After Wesley's death the local people turned the pit into a regular circular shape with turf seats.
