St George's Arcade - Falmouth
This elaborately decorated building was originally a cinema, known as St George's Hall. It opened in November 1912 and was one of the largest in the country at that time. In 1948 a fire caused a lot of damage to the building. The auditorium was restored but the rest of the ground floor was made into an arcade of shops. The first floor was turned into a nightclub.

Although far too large and industrialised to conform to the popular perception of a Cornish coastal town, Falmouth nevertheless can be an atmospheric place; Fish Strand Hill leads up from Fish Strand Quay.
