College Wood viaduct on the Falmouth line
Taken at 2035 hours on a Saturday evening a Falmouth to Truro train crosses the viaduct. The stone piers seen in front of the present viaduct supported its precursor, the top half of which was built in timber for speed and cheapness - particularly the latter - when the line was first built. It was one of the 60+ timber viaducts built by I K Brunel on the Great Western main line and branches which were eventually rebuilt with more permanent structures.
