St Mary's Church, Brixham
The pathway to the right leads up to the Royal British Legion Club. The neat gravestones sit happily in the landscape outside the church. The church door beckons on the left.

Plaque on organ of St Mary's Brixham
The organ was a bequest in 1910 from Henrietta Chilcote of Hill House, nearby, in memory of her father Paul Chilcote and brother Herbert Nicholas Chilcote, both doctors. Paul practised in London then moved to St. Marychurch, where his son practised. Both are buried in the grave yard, together with Henrietta and other members of the Chilcote family.

St Mary's Church, Brixham
"The present church is probably the third on the site, the first possibly a Saxon wooden church. The second was a Norman church. The foundations of this are inside those of the present church. The third church dates from the late fourteenth century, and was possibly built outside and over the old one.
In 1892 the church was re-roofed between 1905 and 1908 and the interior was restored and reseated.
In 1931 the exterior was refaced and repainted. At the same time the clock, which dates from 1740 was replaced and three new faces added." https://web.archive.org/web/20120412160411/http://www.newtonabbot24.co.uk/images/brix11.jpg
