The red cliffs visible on the far horizon are near Budleigh Salterton, 18 miles distant, and Sidmouth, 24 miles, is at the extreme right horizon.

Old Milestone by the A3022, New Road, Brixham
Metal plate attached to stone post by the A3022, in parish of BRIXHAM (TORBAY District), New Road, 150m West of the Monksbridge toll house, where New Road meets Kingsbridge Road, fixed onto stone low down on wall above road, on North side of road. Torquay iron plate, erected by the Dartmouth, Torquay & Shaldon turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- EXETER 29 NEWTON 13 TORQUAY 7¼ PAIGNTON 4½ BRIXHAM ¾ DARTMo 5¼ TOTNES 8 TEIGNMo 14¾ Grade II listed. Cycle lane, Brixham
The pavement is now designated for shared use by pedestrians and cyclists. It's a great encouragement to prospective cyclists who have formerly been put off by the volume of traffic on this main road into Brixham. This is early on a Sunday morning, so not much traffic.
