A neat terrace of polychrome brick, tucked away behind Lower Brimley.

25 and 27 Lower Brimley Road
The middle house of a group of three semi-detached villas in polychrome brick. Older houses such as these display polychrome brickwork, the hard cream Kingsteignton brick providing greater strength at corners, window and door surrounds and, occasionally garden wall plinths and copings. Here (and notably in Higher Brimley) there are courses of studded cream bricks. Looking at the very regular stone dressings I wonder if these are of an artificial stone, perhaps even Coade stone, for which all the ingredients are found locally.

The left-hand, southern part of a panorama. Below the viewpoint are semi-detached villas in Lower Brimley Road. Beyond and below them is Belgrave Terrace with the roofs of twentieth-century Edens Court beyond them. Climbing up the opposite hillside are the great villas of Higher Brimley. Belgrave Terrace, Teignmouth
A terrace of 13; superstition is partly assuaged by naming the house at this end "Belgrave House", and the remainder numbered 1-12.

Polychrome brickwork, 34-36 Higher Brimley
Note the studded bricks in the bands of cream brickwork (probably the hard Kingsteignton brick), also the course of orange bricks laid skew between cream courses on the right. The cream bricks on edge in the coping are perforated.
