Dolphin Hotel, Bovey Tracey
With adjoining shops also shown in Image The hotel dates from the middle of the C19 http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-84700-dolphin-hotel-bovey-tracey . The cast-iron balcony looks like the sort used in political hustings. See also Image

Bovey Weavers - loom shop
This small business hand weaves tweeds in this small building behind the retail shop. I told the owner the pictures inside were for my own use so can't publish here. Within there is a classical wooden bodied hand loom but the real workhorses are a pair of Hattersley foot operated looms of about 1920s vintage. These are cut down versions of a power loom that can be operated by foot treadles but otherwise look like typical power looms of the type you would have found in the older generation of Lancashire or Yorkshire weaving shed. There are also a beaming frame, a pirn and cheese winder, and a device that looks like a great wheel converted to wind pirns for the traditional hand loom. I would recommend this for anybody interested in textile history.
