Moretonhampstead Post Office
The name is derived from the original Saxon Mortun meaning an enclosed piece of land near the moor. The addition of Hampstead came from one of the many Lords of the Manor much later on.

Now a shop with accommodation above, number 7 Court Street was probably originally part of a larger house which may have included number 5. Built in the early 17th century with early 19th century alterations and a mid 19th century extension. A part of a row of early houses that have survived. At one time a shop window was inserted but the property was later remodelled as a house, A part of a row of early houses that have survived. Window, Moretonhampstead post office
Somewhere I have a book whose author claimed that, on visiting a new place, he judged its vitality by the number of items on the local notice-board. He would surely have been impressed by the window of the post office on Court Street, Moretonhampstead.
