Moretonhampstead houses [9]
This pair of houses, 14 & 16 Fore Street, was built shortly after the fire of 1845. They have an almost unaltered mid 19th century front complete with all the sash windows. Listed, grade II, with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1334221

Moretonhampstead houses [8]
The Chimes was built circa 1845 (probably soon after the Fore Street fire of that year). It served as the police house until the police station was built circa 1863. The house contains two rooms used as cells. The ground floor cell has a stone slab ceiling and the first floor cell retains its heavy door and barred opening. Moretonhampstead - Bowring Library
The library was a gift to Moretonhampstead by Sir Thomas Bowring, a notable wool trader. Facing it is a bust of "The Calculating Boy", George Bidder (1806-78). www.visitmoretonhampstead.co.uk
