Brook Lane Cottages
A row of cottages in Widecombe, opposite the church. The road works barriers were what I saw first, and saw that they provided a bit of contrasting colour.

Widecombe in the Moor: Old Inn garden
Seen from the pub car park on the first Sunday of the Easter school holiday, 2011. Quite impressive for a tourist pub: good service. It is run by Hall and Woodhouse, brewers of Blandford St Mary, Dorset. The tower of St Pancras church is visible on the left

Sign for the Old Inn
This Widecombe Fair Poem and Folk Song describes the adventures of Uncle Tom Cobley and his friends and the fate that befell the poor old grey mare that they borrowed from Tom Pearce. It is based on a supposedly true happening and Tom Cobley's grave is at Spreyton.

The Old Inn - Widecombe
The Old Inn was built by the builders of nearby St Pancras Church as a place for them to stay while they were working. Some of the ceiling beams are 700 years old! The back of the building has now been extended to cater for the multitudes who attend Widecombe Fair.
