St Leonard's church, Newton Abbot
Rebuilt here in 1835, leaving a medieval tower just over 100 metres nearer the town centre as all that remains of a chapel of ease. Together with the junk shop next door, it bathes in the last of the evening sunlight. Seen from the Asda car park.

The Old Manor House and Wolborough Street, Newton Abbot
The Manor House is listed Grade II, listing no.1256747. Mastermap says it's a club. The sign outside announces the premises of a local newspaper, the Mid-Devon Advertiser. English Heritage says, inter alia: "House, now offices. C17 with early C19 and C20 alterations. Probably cob under painted stucco to the front, rendered to the sides and rear; slate roof with massive stacks to the gable ends. An early example of this centralized plan form in this region". Massive chimney stacks are a feature of older buildings in South Devon. I'm guessing that they were built to carry sparks and cinders well clear of thatched roofs. The turning on the left is Gothic Road. The grey-green building along the street is Barchington House.
