Snow covered pasture
Slowly melting snow shows the lumps and bumps in this pasture field which has not been grazed since September. The surface has melted and refrozen over several nights and the ice glints in mid morning sunlight.

Starling
Starling (Sturnus vulgaris) feeding on fat block in our garden. The plumage of these birds in winter is a wonderful mix of iridescent colours. The white spots fade as spring comes.

An observant Pied Wagtail
This Pied Wagtail (Motacilla alba yarrellii) was busy feeding in our garden. His head is cocked as he was underneath a fat block watching for pieces of food dropped by the starling above.
