The pub seen from the opposite direction to Image "With one of the longest street elevations in the settlement, the 19th century façade of this reputedly 17th century coaching inn is made all the more impressive by the rusticated quoins and long string course which tend to emphasise its length" http://www.southbrent.co.uk/fileadmin/user_upload/SBPC/publications/other/South_Brent_Conservation_Area.pdf

Set on the corner between Totnes Road (left) and Plymouth Road (right), this is described at http://www.southbrent.gov.uk/fileadmin/user_upload/SBPC/publications/other/South_Brent_Conservation_Area.pdf as "one of the smartest, essentially 19th century, houses in the Conservation Area".

Converted chapel, Plymouth Road, South Brent
Looking from the Old School Community Centre yard Image across Plymouth Road to a house converted from what I believe was a Congregational Church. To its left is the telephone exchange. The shadows indicate that this was an early morning photograph !

Former fire station, Totnes Road, South Brent
This building is next to the Old School Community Centre, and is now used as a garage by the cream painted house behind. It was previously used to keep the village street sweepers' handcart in, but research by the new owner has shown that it was built to house the village fire engine in years gone by. See Image

The Barracks Wall, Totnes Road, South Brent
Behind the high dark (in shadow) stone wall was once a local militia barracks, and the cream house to the left and the mauve and cream houses to its right are thought to have been associated with it. In the distance down the street is the village centre, the Anchor square, still with its historic red telephone kiosk still in use. See Image
