Mistle thrush, Netherfield Recreation Ground
This mistle thrush (Turdus viscivorus) had been singing loudly in midwinter from its bare branch high in a stag-headed tree. It reminded me of Thomas Hardy's famous poem 'The Darkling Thrush' http://www.bbc.co.uk/poetryseason/poems/the_darkling_thrush.shtml
