Pale tussock moth in Robertsbridge High Street
The woolly caterpillars of this species, Calliteara pudibunda, were often found in hop gardens in the Rother Valley and were known as 'hop dogs'. This example of an adult was resting on a wooden front door in Robertsbridge High Street.

Metal and concrete strip crossing The Clappers, Robertsbridge
The function of this strip was not evident to the photographer. It may have something to do with the nearby pumping station, part of the flood defences for Robertsbridge. It appears to connect two similar installations on either side of this busy road.
