Low Tide on River Tillingham
This view is from the road bridge over the tidal part of the River Tillingham.
A sluice on the other side of the bridge, controlled by the Environment Agency, adjusts fresh river water and sea water levels as necessary.

A former public house once called Smeatons Stores that still retains its old sign. Named after John Smeaton an engineer who attempted to save Rye Harbour in the late 18th century. Have found no data regarding closure.

49-57, Winchelsea Road, Rye
Built on the site of an old timber yard in the first decade of the 20th century. Number 57 on the left is the exception having appeared on the 1898 map and was probably the office for the yard.
