St Michaels Village Sign
On junction of Grange Road (going left) and A28 Ashford Road (on right). Has small plaque on post which reads ' St Michaels Village Sign. Unveiled by Sir Donald Sinden, March 2008. This village sign takes as its theme the conflict between St Michael the Archangel and Satan (often depicted as a dragon). According to the Bible, St Michael prevailed, driving the dragon from heaven and down to earth. It is a parable of the victory of goodness over evil. The sign is seen as an integral part of the identity of St Michaels, providing a focal point within the village. Commissioned by the Village Committee, the sign is a tribute to the residents of St Michaels, whose involvement and enthusiasm has served to install a positive community spirit within the village. Designed by Trevor Bingham of St Michaels. Manufactured by Black Forge Art of Wittersham.'
