Tenterden Scene
The A28 is the main street in Tenterden. Independent stores seem to have survived better than in many towns whose High Streets now seem to be clones of multiple chain stores.

Vision Express & The Vine
An old pub in Tenterden High Street. Shepherd Neame http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shepherd_Neame_Brewery was founded in 1698, and the "oldest brewer" tag is on a lot of their pubs. (I know what they mean, but I still get this image of some old boy shuffling round with a zimmer frame and a bag of hops....)

Sign for the Vine Inn
The sign of the vine was formerly far more common as a pub name than it is today, though it is still well represented. It is sometimes a heraldic reference to the Worshipful Company of Distillers (1638) whose arms show a vine bearing grapes, but the sign was already being used in the fourteenth century.
