Old farm implements, St George's Church, Ivychurch
St George's Church at Ivychurch is one of the best examples of the large medieval churches on Romney Marsh which serve a tiny village. It was the wealth of the wool trade which paid for the impressive Late Decorated church. The nave and chancel are one with aisles stretching the full length of both. The church is 135 feet long and the interior is as impressive, especially now that the nave has been cleared of seats. The north aisle contains an attractive collection of farm implements donated by Eli Frith who farmed at Chapel Farm in Ivychurch for 50 years. The equipment belonged to his father, his grandfather and his looker (shepherd) and helped to produce food throughout the war years. Eli levelled and drained the land at Chapel Farm to produce sugar beet, potatoes, wheat and peas.
