Looking towards Marine Parade, Littlestone-on-Sea
Littlestone-on-Sea was laid out towards the end of the 19th century with the intention of forming 'a marine town'. The marine town never materialised but the hotels and boarding houses facing the sea, which can be seen here beyond the beach, are more impressive than the bungalows facing the sea to the south at Greatstone-on-Sea. This photograph was taken on the morning of New Year's Day. The weather was at its best here but as the day wore on it deteriorated into a thoroughly wet, misty and miserable day.

Marine Parade, Littlestone-on-Sea
Littlestone-on-Sea was laid out towards the end of the 19th century with the intention of forming 'a marine town'. The marine town never materialised as can be seen here where gaps occur facing the sea. However, the hotels and boarding houses which were built, such as Marine Parade nearest the camera, are more impressive than the bungalows facing the sea to the south at Greatstone-on-Sea. This photograph was taken on the morning of New Year's Day. The weather was at its best here but as the day wore on it deteriorated into a thoroughly wet, misty and miserable day.

A terrace of new houses, Marine Parade
Subtle changes have taken place to
