Nutley Windmill
An open-trestle post mill that has been operating at this site since the 1830s. Prior to that it is believed to have been moved from Goudhurst in Kent where it had been since the mid 18th century. The mill ceased working in 1908 and changed hands a number of times before it was purchased by Lord and Lady Castle Stewart who resided in nearby Old Lodge. They carried out a number of repairs over the years and agreed to allow the Uckfield and District Preservation Society to assist from the 1970s. The latter were presented with ownership from the surviving Castle Stewart family members in 1996. The mill is open Sundays from 2.30-5.30 from March to September.

Nutley Windmill
Nutley Windmill is a fine example of the oldest post mill design and is the last open-trestle post mill in Sussex and one of only five left in the country. The design dates from the 12th century and this mill is thought to be about 300 years old. There was not a mill on this site before 1820 and it has been suggested that the mill came from Goudhurst in Kent. It is still working and has open days.
