Ightham Mote [4]
Mote Cottages probably once formed an outer court to Ightham Mote. This 'L' shaped block of five cottages was built in the 16th century, refronted on the right in the 19th century. Close-studded timber framed, plastered, underbuilt in red and blue brick to the ground floor, all under a plain tile roof. Listed, grade II*, with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1362411 Ightham Mote is a medieval moated manor house at Ightham, Kent, some 3½ miles southeast of Sevenoaks. Regarded as the most complete small medieval manor house in the county. There are 4 ranges around a courtyard, with the oldest parts dated circa 1350, and many additions since. The construction is of Kentish ragstone and red brick, the buildings having originally been built of timber and subsequently rebuilt in stone. The house and gardens are owned by the National Trust. The house listed, grade I, with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1362410 A Scheduled Ancient Monument with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1013120
