Shoreham in the Darent Valley is one of the most attractive villages in Kent. The artist Samuel Palmer (1805–1881) lived in the village from 1826 to 1835. Shoreham had the dubious distincton of being the most bombed village in the United Kingdom during the Second World War. This scene is next to Ye Olde George Inne in Church Street. Despite the bombing, many attractive houses survived as can be seen here.
