The last of seven
In 1902 seven oaks were planted around the Vine cricket ground, on the 16th October 1987 a hurricane destroyed six of the seven trees - this is the lone survivor. In the December following the hurricane, six new oaks were planted.

Seven oak trees were planted here in 1902 to mark the coronation of King Edward VII. Six were blown down in the storm of 1987 and were replaced. The large tree is the storm survivor.
