Otter pipes in the new bridge
My tame environmental advisor tells me that your average otters will avoid getting their feet wet and prefer to travel along the banks. When they get to an obstruction such as a bridge they will climb up to road level and cross the carriageway rather than swim upstream. Unfortunately they do not have a lot of road sense and many get killed. The answer is to provide pipes, as in this case, through the abutments or shelves attached to the front face above flood level. Whether they will actually use them depends on how bright they are!
