Canal moorings at Market Drayton, Shropshire
The late 20th century apartments, and private long term moorings, take the place of former warehouses and their associated canal basin. Plenty of good visitor moorings are available on the towpath side, but they do fill up quickly in the busy season, so aim to arrive early.

Shropshire Union Canal approaching Market Drayton, Shropshire
The former wharf and linear basin on the left are now utilised for private moorings, the site now fully redeveloped with a variety of housing (1990s?). Late afternoon sunlight adds warmth to the autumnal colours of the trees.

Market Drayton marina
I fished an open match here in the mid 1980s, and seem to recall the marina being backed by a hedge and/or fields. Times have changed; hopefully the roach and bream are still there to be caught between the moored boats.
