Joule's Brewery Tap in Market Drayton
The new Joule's brewery, situated to the rear of this fine frontage (formerly the Red Lion Inn) was opened in 2010 after ten years preparatory work. Take it from me, the ale is excellent! Try a pint of Joule's Pale Ale or the dark Slumbering Monk. :-) The conversion of the old Red Lion Inn into the current extensive bar has been beautifully done, and incorporates many historical artifacts into newly built "period style" features. Notable, and well worth seeing are the portraits of eight people who inspired the development of the brewery; four completed as I write. These gentlemen are presented as monks in various guises appropriate to their influence on the project. The paintings on oak panelling are by Andrew Tift and are strikingly lifelike. http://www.joulesbrewery.co.uk/brewery/joules_story.php http://www.shropshirestar.com/news/2014/07/10/oh-brother-what-a-crafty-tribute-to-work-at-market-drayton-brewery/anthony-heeley-and-christopher-blase/ The Red Lion: http://www.joulesbrewery.co.uk/pubs/pub_details.php?id=13
