Barratts Shoes, Telford Town Centre
Sadly, at the moment (February 2009), every week brings news of more problems for our high street retailers. Barratt's owners are the among the latest to be having problems and it appears that these stores will soon be a thing of the past.

Telford: peculiar clock in the shopping centre
Telford's shopping centre is one of the largest in the country and is sure to feature the first big High Street names that spring to your mind. In its centre square is this clock which features a frog above the clock face, and a moving wheel. I was, perhaps, not able to stay long enough to tell all that happens. The clock is dated below the 12 – being a few minutes after midday it was difficult to read but I think it is 1996.

Telford Time Machine
Even modern shopping malls can be fun, if you lift your eyes up from the shop fronts.
This "Frog Clock" is loads of fun. On the hour the wheeled 'chariot' slowly moves across with the pendulum swinging, a jolly tune plays, the big frog (or is it a toad?) turns outwards and blows bubbles across the square. The children delight in trying to catch them.
Sadly, at the moment it is not working, I understand that they are awaiting a part to fix it.

"Sunglass Hut" Telford Town Centre
It must take an awful lot of sales of sunglasses to pay the rents charged in these modern shopping malls. Wouldn't have thought that Telford was the ideal place! Well at least they tried.

Bus Station, Telford Town Centre
Not too attractive but functional. The waiting area is all indoors with opening doors to access the buses. They play classical softly in the background in the waiting area, successfully frightens off the "hoodies"!
