Ruberslaw Parish Church
This church (1844) is on the northeast side of the village green. The southwest facing clock face is dated 1885 and a stone tablet above the entrance door is inscribed:-

A plaque in a Millennium garden, Denholm
The plaque forms the centrepiece of a circular paving in a small Millennium garden on the northwest side of the parish church at Kirkside. The inscription on the plaque reads:-

Cottages in Denholm
The thatched cottage in the photo was the birthplace in 1775 of Dr John Leyden, son of a shepherd. At the age of 15, John Leyden enrolled at Edinburgh University, eventually qualifying both as a doctor and as a minister. He was an associate of Sir Walter Scott and a poet in his own right, and became an expert in oriental languages before his early death, at the age of 36, in Java.
