Railway bridge at Steele Road
One of the many bridges on the dismantled Waverley Railway Line that ran between Edinburgh and Carlisle. The road sign indicates that this bridge has a height restriction of twelve feet and six inches (3.8m).

Bridge Remains On The Waverley Line
One of several small bridges near Steele Road, enabling farm access under the former Waverley Line. This particular example has a badly damaged guard rail. The route appears to be used by local farmers.

Old railway bridge at Steele Road
The bridge carried the Waverley Line which was the North British Railway's line between Edinburgh and Carlisle, through the Scottish Borders. Opened in two stages, between 1849 and 1862, the railway linked the Border towns of Galashiels, Melrose, St Boswells and Hawick. The line closed in 1969.
